By defeating the Philippines with a score of 21-16, the Vietnamese women’s basketball team won the gold medal for the first time in the history of the SEA Games, ending the long-standing dominance of the Philippines and Thailand.

Meeting the Philippines again in the final of the 32nd SEA Games, the Vietnamese women’s 3×3 basketball team was both happy and worried because the team only had a narrow victory over the Philippines in the group stage. Right at the beginning of the final match, the Vietnamese women’s players had the advantage when they scored the first point. After that, the Vietnamese basketball team maintained the gap with their opponents and won the final match 21-16.

This gold medal is compensation for the unfortunate defeat last year in the final match of SEA Games 31, when the Vietnamese women’s team lost to Thailand with a score of 19-21 at home.
Thus, as of noon on May 7, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation had 8 gold medals, 14 silver medals and 21 bronze medals.
